Chicago Sun-Times, "Why is it so Hard to Fire a Policeman?"
This article detailed many instances of misconduct by officers in the Chicago Police Department, and the way in which they are given consequences. It described the Chicago Police Board, which is made up of Chicago civilians, and their authority over matters such as assigning suspensions, dismissals, and releases of the 80 police officers that were caught behaving poorly on the job. The majority of those 80 police officers were given less than appropriate consequences in the eyes of some Police Superintendents.
